Hailuo AI is MiniMax’s video generation app. Its main model, MiniMax H3, released July 31, 2026, creates 4- to 15-second shots in 2K with native stereo sound, from text, images, videos or audio (MiniMax blog). There is a free trial: 150 credits at sign-up, valid for three days. Paid plans start at $10.50 a month ($8.40 billed annually), and a 5-second H3 shot costs 60 credits in 2K or 35 at 768p.
This guide is based on Hailuo AI’s subscription page and its FAQ, payment terms and terms of service, checked from France on Oct. 15, 2026, and on the interface of a free account; nothing was generated. What Can You Do With Hailuo AI?
Four common uses, with the setting to choose and what they cost. The prompts follow the syntax shown in the editor: upload files, then reference them as @Image1, @Video1 or @Audio1 to say what each one is for.
Animate a Photo or Product
Setting: MiniMax H3 in Omni Reference mode, with an uploaded image as the starting point. Cost: 60 credits for 5 seconds in 2K, 35 at 768p (checked Oct. 15, 2026). The prompt describes the motion, camera and sound, not what the image already shows:
@Image1 as start frame. The camera slowly pushes in on the sneaker as it rotates on the pedestal, soft studio light sweeping across the leather. Subtle electronic beat, no voice.
Keep a Character or Set Consistent Across Shots
H3 accepts up to 12 references in one shot: a face, an outfit, a set, an object. Upload the same reference images for each shot and give each a clear role:
@Image1 is the main character, @Image2 is the café interior. She walks in, sits by the window and opens a notebook. Handheld camera, warm afternoon light, quiet café ambience.
Reuse a Video’s Motion or Sync to Music
An uploaded video can serve as a motion reference, and a sound file as the soundtrack, as in the editor’s own example: “@Video1 for motion, @Audio1 as soundtrack.” Useful for recreating a dance, a camera move or an edit rhythm with a different character.
Set the First and Last Frame
For a shot that must end on a logo or a specific product, pick a model labeled Start/End Frames in the picker: Hailuo 2.0 and Veo 3.1 as of Oct. 15, 2026 (the End Frame filter isolates them). The AI fills in the motion between the two images.

Tips That Save Credits
- Draft at 768p, finish in 2K. For 5 seconds of H3, the estimate drops from 60 to 35 credits at 768p. The editor says so itself: lower cost for multiple attempts, then upscale to 2K once the shot is approved.
- Set the length precisely. H3 is adjustable second by second, from 4 to 15 seconds, and the cost follows the length.
- Try H3 Max for quick variations. It outputs 480p or 768p, and the subscription grid gives it the lowest per-second price.
- Don’t worry about failures. Credits are returned automatically if a generation fails or the content doesn’t pass moderation (payment terms).
- Use your credits within the month. Subscription credits expire after one month. Purchased credits (70 credits for $1) remain valid until December 31 of the second year after purchase.

Is Hailuo AI Free?
For a trial, yes. New accounts get 150 credits according to the homepage (checked Oct. 15, 2026), one package per person, which expires three days after it’s granted (payment terms). The free plan only includes Hailuo models, and videos download with a watermark. At 60 credits per 5-second 2K shot, that’s two H3 tries, or four at 768p.
So prepare your images and prompts before creating the account, and use the credits within three days.

Watch out for the FAQ on the same page: it still describes $7.99 and $24.99 promotions and an Ultra plan that no longer appears in the grid. Go by the plan cards and the amount shown at checkout.
How Much Does a 5-Second Video Cost?
On monthly Standard, the page shows $0.126 per second of H3 in 2K and $0.074 at 768p, or about $0.63 and $0.37 for 5 seconds. Higher plans lower the per-second price: $0.102 in 2K on monthly Pro, and $0.081 billed annually from Pro up, the price MiniMax highlights.
For other models, the FAQ lists 25 credits for 6 seconds of Hailuo 2.3 at 768p and 80 at 1080p; 15 credits for Hailuo 2.3-Fast; and 120 credits for 8 seconds of Veo 3.1 on promotion (320 at the regular rate).

Can You Use Hailuo Videos Commercially?
Yes, with a subscription. The subscription FAQ says videos you can download without a watermark are yours and can be used commercially; videos made before subscribing can also be downloaded again without a watermark, except the oldest ones.
In return, the terms of service (last modified Aug. 19, 2026) give the operator, Nanonoble Pte. Ltd., a Singapore company, a royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual and irrevocable license to your content, including to earn revenue from it. They also say you alone are responsible for the rights to what you upload (faces, music, brands). Don’t upload anything confidential.
No refunds. The FAQ is clear: a paid subscription isn’t refunded; if you cancel, it stays active until the end of the period. Use the free credits to decide first.
Watch Out for Copycat Hailuo Sites
The official site is hailuoai.video (plus the MiniMax app). On Bing, two third-party sites rank right behind it for “hailuo ai gratuit” and “hailuo ai pricing” (checked Oct. 15, 2026):
- hailuo.eu describes itself as an “independent affiliate site,” not affiliated with Hailuo AI, and shows its own prices;
- hailuoai.work (“Hailuo AI Work”) says it is “not affiliated with hailuoai.video” and sells its own plans, from $19.90 to $49.90 a month.
