What Is Writesonic in 2026?

Writesonic started out as a marketing copy generator when GPT-3 launched (About Writesonic). Today it calls itself “the AI Search Growth Engine”: a tool that connects traditional SEO on Google with visibility inside AI assistants’ answers.

Its workflow runs in four steps, which Writesonic calls its loop: track what AI engines say, prioritize the gaps, act (content, citations, technical fixes) and measure the lift.

What Changed Since 2025

• Writing is no longer the core product. The old template library, “SEO Mode” and word-based plans are gone from the pricing page. Writing lives on as a long-form article writer bundled into each plan.
• No more permanent free plan. The 10,000 free words, the $16 Freelancer plan and the $29 Small Team plan no longer exist. You start with a 7-day trial instead.
• Chatsonic has been sidelined. Its landing page is still up, but it describes 2024-era models (GPT-4o, o1, Claude 3.5, Gemini 1.5 Pro) and a $16/month Individual plan that no longer appears on the pricing page (checked Sept. 25, 2026). Don’t subscribe for Chatsonic alone.

Fix the Gaps: Action Center and AI Agents

The Action Center ranks what to do next by expected impact: prompts where your brand is missing, sources that cite competitors but not you, pages to improve, technical issues. Growth gets a trial version (5 off-page and 5 on-page actions a month); only Enterprise gets the full version. Agentic workflows, which automate SEO and content tasks, are capped at 10, 50 or 100 trial runs depending on the plan.

Write: The AI Article Writer

The article writer produces 3,000 to 8,000-word pieces through a multi-step pipeline: analysis of the pages already ranking, an outline, section-by-section drafting, an editorial review and a “humanizer” pass meant to strip AI tells (AI Article Writer page, checked Sept. 25, 2026). It adds sources, FAQs, schema markup, internal links and images, and publishes in one click to WordPress, Webflow, Ghost, Sanity or Contentful.

A “For Agencies” tab offers Agency Starter at $200/month billed annually: up to 20 pitch projects a month (1 to 7-day audits of prospects), 2,000 answers a month, every AI model except Claude, and unlimited users. Turning a prospect into an ongoing client project costs from $150 per project per month (agency pricing, checked Sept. 25, 2026).

Is Writesonic Free?

Not anymore, at least not as a permanent free plan. Writesonic offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card, described as full access (pricing and AI Article Writer page, checked Sept. 25, 2026). The exact trial quotas are not disclosed.

Two tools stay free with no sign-up, subject to daily limits (free tools, checked Sept. 25, 2026):
