Soundraw in 2026: Pricing, License and How It Compares to Suno and Udio

Soundraw is a Japanese AI generator for instrumental music: you pick a genre, mood, theme, length and tempo, it offers tracks you can reshape block by block, then you download them with a commercial license. It is built for video creators, podcasters, small businesses and beatmakers who need background music that won’t get them into copyright trouble. It doesn’t sing, and there are no free downloads: in the US, plans start at $12.99 a month (Soundraw pricing, checked Sept. 25, 2026).

How Does Soundraw Work?

Filters Instead of Prompts

The generator page has no free-text prompt box: you combine filters instead. There are more than 30 genres (lo-fi hip-hop, orchestra, house, Afrobeats, jazz, ambient, trap…), plus moods and use-case themes (vlogs, ads and trailers, tutorials, gaming, documentary). Soundraw can blend two genres in one track, such as “Hip Hop × Pop.” Each click on “Generate” returns a fresh list of tracks showing key, tempo and length.

A “Video Preview” window lets you drop in your own video and hear the music against your footage before downloading.

Editing Block by Block

Each track is split into blocks a few bars long. According to the help center’s editing guide, you can:

• delete or add blocks and set each block’s energy (Quiet, Mid, Intense, Extreme in the interface);
• open the Mixer to switch each instrument group (Melody, Backing, Bass, Drum) and transitions (Fills) on or off per block, and add fades;
• change the length, tempo (BPM), instruments, key (from a set of options) and overall volume.

The track is rebuilt instantly, with no DAW required.

Exporting

Depending on your plan: MP3 only, or MP3, WAV and WAV stems (drums, bass, melody, FX) for further work in Ableton, Logic or FL Studio. MIDI export isn’t available (formats help article, checked Sept. 25, 2026). To go past 5 minutes, the help center suggests removing the outro, downloading the track and looping it in an editor.

For businesses, Soundraw also sells an API, starting at $29.99 a month for up to 100 songs (new sign-ups and companies with up to 3 employees only), and $300 a month for up to 1,000 songs with a 6-month minimum (checked Sept. 25, 2026). An Enterprise plan is priced on request.

How Much Does Soundraw Cost in 2026?

Prices shown in US dollars on the pricing page when viewed from the US (checked Sept. 25, 2026). Soundraw displays them as discounts off a crossed-out list price, with no end date shown; list prices are in parentheses. Prices differ by region: visitors in Europe see a separate euro price list.

Creator and Artist plans are for individuals and companies with fewer than 10 employees; larger companies need Enterprise.

Which plan should you pick?

• You make videos, podcasts, ads or games: Creator is enough. Unlimited downloads and commercial use, but MP3 only.
• You want to release songs on streaming services: you need an Artist plan. Artist Pro adds WAV and stems, which help when recording vocals or remixing in a DAW.
• You release a lot of tracks: Artist Unlimited.

Is Soundraw Free?

Not for actually using the music. A free account lets you generate, edit and favorite tracks, but downloads and the license are for paying subscribers only, and Soundraw does not offer a free trial of its license (free vs. paid help article, checked Sept. 25, 2026). On refunds, the terms of service (art. 7.3) only allow one if you cancel within a week of an auto-renewal and haven’t downloaded anything since.

Soundraw License: Commercial Use, YouTube and Spotify

Soundraw says its AI is trained only on music written and recorded by its in-house producers, with no songs scraped from the internet (license page, checked Sept. 25, 2026). That is its main selling point against Suno and Udio, both sued by the major record labels in 2024.

What You Can Do

According to the license page (checked Sept. 25, 2026):

• All plans: personal and commercial use in your own projects: YouTube, UGC, product videos, tutorials, live streams, social media, video games, one physical store, client work, hold music, radio and TV.
• Artist plans: make songs for streaming services, radio and live shows, but only after modifying the track (remixing it, adding your vocals or an instrument you play). The final song must sound clearly different from the downloaded one.
• Meditation, lo-fi and relaxation content (Artist plans): if you publish a track as downloaded, it can only stay online while your subscription is active.
• Ask Soundraw first: videos you don’t own (films, TV, ads for someone else…), theater and other synced content.
• Not allowed: registering tracks in Content ID or any other fingerprinting system, distributing unmodified tracks, selling your modified beat on stock audio sites.

YouTube and Content ID

You can monetize your videos, but you can’t register the music with Content ID (Content ID help article, checked Sept. 25, 2026). Soundraw acknowledges that an automated claim can still show up on YouTube: its procedure is to dispute it in YouTube Studio, citing your Soundraw license. Ad revenue may be held until the dispute is approved.

Who Owns the Music?

Not you, for the generated part. The terms of service (art. 9.3) grant a non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license. Soundraw keeps the rights to the sound recording; you own whatever you add (vocals, instruments, changes to the composition) (copyright help article, checked Sept. 25, 2026). Two users may get similar-sounding tracks, though Soundraw says getting the exact same one twice is practically impossible.

What If You Cancel?

Tracks downloaded while you were subscribed stay licensed for life, even after you cancel, according to the FAQ on the pricing page (checked Sept. 25, 2026). The one exception is meditation, lo-fi or relaxation content published unmodified.

Soundraw vs Suno vs Udio

These three don’t do the same job. Suno and Udio generate full songs with vocals and lyrics from a written prompt. Soundraw makes instrumentals you can fine-tune, designed as background music or as a base to build on.

Suno launched its v6 models on Sept. 9, 2026, trained on licensed catalogs from Warner Music Group and BMG, and retired its older models (Digital Music News). The free plan gives 50 credits a day, with no downloads and no commercial rights. Pro costs $10 a month ($8 billed annually) with 20 downloads a month; Premier is $30 ($24 billed annually) with 60 downloads (Suno pricing, checked Sept. 25, 2026).

Udio disabled audio, video and stem downloads after its deal with Universal Music Group, announced Oct. 29, 2025, and its help center still says so as of Sept. 25, 2026. A licensed platform where the music stays on the service has been announced for 2026. For now, you can’t use an Udio track in a video or a commercial project.

Who each one is for

• Soundraw: you need background music for videos, podcasts, ads or games, cut to an exact length and energy curve, with a license that’s easy to show a client. Or you’re a beatmaker looking for an instrumental base to rework.
• Suno: you want a complete song with vocals and lyrics, a demo or a sung jingle, and you’re willing to pay to download and use it.
• Udio: only for listening and sharing on the platform, until downloads come back.

Soundraw’s Limitations

• No vocals or lyrics: you have to record or generate vocals elsewhere.
• No natural-language prompt: you can’t ask for “an epic build that drops at 0:45”; you work through filters and then the editor.
• Creator is MP3 only: no WAV or stems for detailed mixing under a video.
• Content ID claims can happen on YouTube and must be disputed manually.
• Annual commitment: if you end an annual plan early, the rest of the year is still owed (terms of service, art. 8.3).
• Limited rights: Soundraw keeps the rights to the recording, and streaming releases require modifying the track.

FAQ

Is Soundraw Really Royalty-Free?

Yes, in the sense that you don’t pay per use: your subscription gives you a license for every track you download. But Soundraw keeps the rights to the recording and doesn’t allow you to register it with Content ID (license page, checked Sept. 25, 2026).

Can I Use Soundraw Music on YouTube?

Yes, on any paid plan, including on a monetized channel. If an automated claim appears, dispute it in YouTube Studio and cite your Soundraw license.

Can I Put a Soundraw Track on Spotify?

Only with an Artist plan, and only after modifying it (vocals, remix, a played instrument). The raw track can’t be distributed, and it must not be registered in any content identification system.

What Happens to My Music If I Cancel?

Tracks downloaded while you were subscribed remain usable for life. The exception: meditation, lo-fi or relaxation content published unmodified must come down when your subscription ends.
